We collaborated with renowned designers Woods Bagot and construction firms to completely transform the lobbies across multiple floors of BHP/Brookfield’s building. Using a combination of architectural vinyl finishes, we refreshed the glass panels, elevator doors, and surrounds to create a modern, stylish, and warm aesthetic for each floor, with the top floor receiving a unique and striking design.
The BHP/Brookfield lobby refurbishment project involved revitalising multiple levels of the building, bringing a modern and stylish look to each landing lobby. Working alongside designers Woods Bagot, and with the support of fit-out companies Shape, Renascent, and Byte Construction, we were tasked with updating the existing glass panels on 11 floors, as well as adding a unique touch to the top floor.
The glass panels on each floor were dull and lifeless, but replacing them would have been costly and time-consuming. Architectural vinyl provided the perfect solution, allowing us to apply new finishes directly onto the glass, saving both time and expense. Woods Bagot selected two finishes for the lobby walls: stone vinyl for the bottom row of glass panels, and real fabric vinyl for the top three rows. This design was implemented across all 11 levels.
For the top floor—level 45—the designers wanted something special. We applied a concrete vinyl to the top three rows of glass, and to elevate the look even further, we wrapped the elevator doors and surrounds with a stunning 3M DiNOC timber vinyl (PW-2306MT), giving the space a premium and modern finish.
The final result was a remarkable transformation that met the client’s desire for modern, warm, and stylish lobbies. The use of architectural vinyl across the glass panels, elevators, and surrounds not only brought new life to the space but also provided a cost-effective and efficient alternative to traditional renovations. The design of level 45, in particular, made a lasting impact with its unique concrete and timber finishes, exceeding the expectations of both the client and building occupants.
A unique challenge arose when the client required a hidden card reader behind the fabric vinyl. The card reader needed to be marked with stripes so staff could easily locate where to hold their cards. Since vinyl wouldn’t stick well to the real fabric, we were able to print directly onto the fabric vinyl—a technique that highlights the versatility of architectural vinyl solutions.
