A Complete Lobby Transformation

The 150 St Georges Terrace lobby refurbishments required an upgrade to nine levels, transforming them from cold and uninteresting spaces into inviting, modern lobbies. Hub Interiors led the design, and we were tasked with executing the transformation using a combination of 3D Laminex surrounds wrapped in architectural vinyl to achieve the desired timber finish.

Each level featured eight demi-round Laminex panels, which were custom-cut to size off-site. These panels were wrapped in SPW99 architectural vinyl to achieve a timber look. Once prepared, they were installed on-site and affixed to the walls with battens to create a 40mm standoff, allowing space for LED lighting to be installed at the base, which added depth and ambience to the lobbies.

To ensure a seamless finish, the flat returns leading into the elevators were wrapped in 3mm composite panels. The architectural vinyl was applied across the panels and wrapped onto the demi-round surrounds, creating a cohesive look. Additionally, other walls and doors were covered in the same timber-effect vinyl, providing consistency throughout the space.

The refurbished lobbies at 150 St Georges Terrace exceeded expectations, with the modern, seamless finish transforming the atmosphere into something warm and inviting. The use of architectural vinyl provided a high-end look, while also being a cost-effective and durable solution. The integration of LED lighting added a final touch of sophistication, creating a striking visual effect that enhanced the overall design.

This project required a blend of technical precision and craftsmanship. From cutting the boards at precise angles to meticulous filling and sanding between the 3D boards, ACM panels, and walls, the final result was a seamless, high-quality finish. The project demonstrated how architectural vinyl can be used to deliver a luxurious yet practical design, even in challenging installation scenarios.
